To understand what our tool does, you have to understand the core infrastructure of the internet. "DNS" stands for Domain Name System. The easiest way to think about it is to imagine a massive, global telephone book.
Computers do not speak English. They do not know what "RankZoa.com" or "Google.com" means. Computers only speak in numbers, specifically IP addresses (like 192.168.1.1). When you type a website name into your browser, your browser immediately checks the global DNS phonebook and says, "Hey, what is the IP address number for this domain name?"
The DNS phonebook replies with the correct number, and your browser connects to the server. If your DNS records are missing, typed incorrectly, or pointing to an old server that you canceled last month, the phonebook gives your browser the wrong number. The connection fails, and your website goes dark.

1. The "A" Record (Address Record)
This is the big one. The A Record connects your domain name directly to the physical IP address of your web hosting server. If you recently moved your website from GoDaddy to Bluehost, but you forgot to update your A Record, your domain is still going to point to the empty GoDaddy server. If your website is down, the A Record is the very first thing you need to check.
2. The "MX" Record (Mail Exchange Record)
This record handles all of your emails. It tells the internet exactly which mail server is responsible for accepting email messages on behalf of your domain. If you sign up for Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 to get a professional email address (like hello@yourdomain.com), you absolutely must have your MX records configured correctly. If they are missing or broken, your emails will bounce.
3. The "CNAME" Record (Canonical Name)
This is basically an alias. It maps one domain name to another domain name. The most common use for a CNAME is making sure that visitors who type www.yourdomain.com get successfully redirected to yourdomain.com.
4. The "TXT" Record (Text Record)
This is a multi-purpose record. It is mostly used to prove that you actually own the domain name. For example, if you want to set up Google Search Console, Google will ask you to add a secret code to your TXT record to verify your identity. It is also heavily used to set up SPF and DKIM records, which prove to Gmail that you are not a spammer, keeping your emails out of the junk folder.

How long does it take for new DNS records to update?
When you change a DNS record at your domain registrar (like Namecheap or GoDaddy), the change does not happen globally all at once. The new phonebook entry has to physically spread to thousands of different internet servers around the world. This process is called DNS Propagation. It usually takes a few hours, but it can technically take up to 48 hours to complete. You can use our tool to check if the new records have successfully propagated to the public internet yet.
Can I change or fix my DNS records using this tool?

Not at all. DNS records are public by design. The entire internet relies on this information being publicly accessible so that computers know how to talk to each other and route traffic safely. Anyone can look up the DNS records of any website on earth.
